Access to Capital

From Capital Ready to Capital Secured: Financing Small Businesses, MWBEs & Entrepreneurs for Growth

  • Thursday, November 5, 2026
  • 1:45 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Royal Sonesta San Juan, 5961 Ave. Isla Verde, San Juan, Puerto Rico 00979

Session overview

Small businesses, MWBEs and entrepreneurs often know where they want to go but need access to the right capital to get there. Securing financing requires more than finding a lender. Businesses must understand their financial position, identify financing options that fit their needs and be prepared to demonstrate their capacity to responsibly deploy and repay capital.

Access to Capital: From Capital Ready to Capital Secured brings together leaders from government, finance, business and entrepreneurship to demystify the financing process and help businesses move from simply seeking money to strategically preparing for capital.

The conversation will explore CDFI lending, contract financing, traditional and alternative financing, financial readiness, government resources and the business fundamentals lenders evaluate. The goal is to help entrepreneurs understand how to select the right capital at the right time, strengthen their financial position and use financing strategically to build capacity and achieve sustainable growth.

“Capital creates capacity. Capacity creates opportunity. When entrepreneurs have both access and preparation, they are positioned not simply to survive, but to grow.”

— Dr. Teri Coaxum
